Carroll Shelby is well known for taking Ford Mustangs and giving them high performance upgrades. The Shelby version Mustang from 1967 is part of what made him so famous. The 1967 Shelby Ford Mustang GT 500 is one of the most popular cars of all time. The Ford Mustand had a 428 big block powerplant rated at 335 HP. The 1967 Shelby Mustang distinguished itself from its more plain Ford cousin with elaborate use of fiberglass. A larger fiberglass nose was used together with a fiberglass hood, fenders and trunk lid. The hood featured an intimidating dual air intake scoop and the cut-off rear roof windows gave way to impressive air-extraction scoops. A protruding lower front spoiler was a popular extra.
